"Prophecy and speaking in unknown languages and special knowledge will become useless. But love will last forever!"
It's a word that resonates throughout the teachings of Jesus. Take care of each other. Do not forget to love one another. Show love as a community. Jesus' heart is to love, care for one another for us. He has done this for us to help us realize the grace and love that we are to reflect one another.
What does this mean in today's context?
How does this reflect within our individual lives?
How does this affect our communities?
Do we show to those we are close to what we're about?
Do we show the world what we're about?
There must be so much
John the Baptist calls out the "brood of vipers" that have come to be baptized. He preaches that it is not by Abraham they will be saved. The crowd is asking what to do and John says to share with one another. Don't worry or be selfish about money or belongings.
Jesus later asks Peter three times "Do you Love me?", and afterwards he commands him to take care and feed his sheep.
In the Acts church, the believers got together with glad and sincere hearts. Sharing all things and enjoying the favors of all people
If I have gifts of prophecy, knowledge, and faith but not love, all these things are lost and I am nothing.
God is constantly saying through his word that we should look to love one another. The one thing that seems to missing in our communities and relationships, its more love. Where does our hope lie in? It lies in Christ and that hope is love because God is love.
The commandment, "Love your neighbor as you love yourself", is a command that was hard to grasp for a long time. God commands to us to love those around you as yourself. In order for this command to be complete, we must love ourselves. If we don't love who we are within God, how can we love those around us? Love others as yourself.
So what does this mean in today's context? Start caring for those that care about you. Ask for the heart to care about those that doesn't care about you. Start caring for those that hate you.
My hope is that not only does this conviction resonate in our hearts and mind but in our lives!
Romans 8:24-25
For in this hope we were saved. but hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what he already has? But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.
